So, you are considering using a renewable energy source to power the electrical needs of your home. On this website I look at both the DIY (Do It Yourself) and Commercial applications of this technology for home owners. Believe it or not, there are multiple sources of renewable energy, some of which are well within the reach of the ordinary homeowner. Just yesterday, February 24, 2010, there was a major announcement about a company called Bloom Energy. This innovative company is already producing products being purchased by a wide range of companies, including our favorite Google, to power their offices and data centers.

While currently too expensive for the homeowner, the President of the company hopes to produce a module that will sell for around $ 3,000 and provide all of the electrical power a home would need. While this solution is not currently available, there are still plenty of alternatives available to the homeowner.
But first, before you decide on whether to use solar, wind or magnetic power generation, you need to know how much energy you use in your home. Once you know that then, and only then, will you know how much energy you need to generate to cover your needs.
Even if you can’t generate enough electricity to satisfy all of your needs, you may be able to figure out how much you can save with the size solar, wind or magnetic power generation system, or combination thereof, you are able to build or purchase. |
